A dream debut for Suriya’s sibling Karthi, Paruthiveeran took rural romance to a whole new level. A massive hit, this film set in a caste-obsessed village, had a wayward youth being pursued by his childhood friend Muthazhagu (Priyamani) whom he promised to marry when he was young. The film won the national award for Priyamani and needless to say Muthazhagu and her lover always stay in our heart.
