The unreal times

By Prathap

We took some time to catch up with the rest of the world in adapting to VFX but we have successfully reached there, as it might seem. There are ample instances and recent successes, starting from Shankar to the gen-next Vijay who are putting VFX to good use in their movies. Here is a list of movies that impressed us with their graphical abilities.

Irandam Ulagam - Selvaraghavan is poised to bring the Pandora magic to Tamil with Irandam Ulagam. The Pandora like wonderland is sure to awe his fans

Dasavatharam - The Tsunami scene in Dasavatharam has got to be one of the most breathtaking computer generated scenes in the history of Tamil cinema.

Enthiran - Enthiran's scenes where the shape shifting robots wreak havoc was fun to watch for adults and children alike.

Madrasapattinam - Bringing the colonial Madras of yore to life is not an easy task but Director Vijay achieved the same in Madrasapattinam.

Gautham Menon also did his bit to show old-time Madras on the screen in Vaaranam Aayiram. Who can forget Mundhinam Paartheney?

As a special mention Shankar's name figures in the list. He is probably the godfather who pioneered computer graphics in his movies and he literally goes berserk with song sequences. This phenomenon can be sampled in songs like Maya Machindra, Muqabla, Mudhalvane and Style to name a few.
