Winners of 10th Asia Pacific Screen Awards (APSA)

The Asia Pacific Screen Awards (APSA) recognize and promote the cinematic excellence and cultural diversity of the vast Asia Pacific region.

Established in 2007 and headquartered in Brisbane, Australia, APSA, an international cultural program driven by Brisbane City Council through Brisbane Marketing is endorsed by UNESCO and FIAPF – International Federation of Film Producers Associations, and proudly presented by the Treasury Casino and Hotel.

Covering one-third of the Earth, the 70 countries and areas of the Asia Pacific stretch from Egypt in the west to the Cook Island in the east, from Russia in the north to New Zealand in the south. They are home to 4.5 billion people and produce half the world’s film.

Since inception, thousands of feature length films have competed in the APSAs; films that demonstrate a rich slate of diversity – each telling its own story, in its own way, from its country of origin. With UNESCO, APSA aims to build a greater understanding of diversity across cultures.

Winners in the 10th APSA were announced last night (29th November) at a glittering ceremony in Brisbane.

Hosted by Australian actor David Wenham and presenter Anjali Rao, the 2016 Awards marked the 10th year of APSA recognising and promoting cinematic excellence and cultural diversity of the world’s fastest growing film region: comprising 70 countries and areas, 4.5 billion people, one third of the earth and responsible for half of the world’s film output.
