Directed by Atlee, the film features Nayanthara as the female lead while Jackie Shroff, Vivekh, Yogi Babu, Daniel Balaji, Kathir, Indhuja and others play the crucial roles.
Produced by Kalpathi S. Aghoram, Kalpathi S. Ganesh and Kalpathi S. Suresh under the banner AGS Entertainment. The film received positive responses from the audiences.On the technical front, Bigil is shot by 'Mersal' cinematographer G.K. Vishnu while Ruben and Muthuraj handle the editing and art departments respectively. The music is composed by AR Rahman.
Bigil had Vijay playing two characters - Rayappan and Bigil. Actor Sriram, who played Vijay's body double in the movie, has shared some fond memories. He wrote, "Memories ❤Fire shoot time #Bigil.
