Actor Vijay Sethupathi cast his vote at the polling station in Kodambakkam along with his wife. He later told reporters that he was beyond caste and religion and that humans were important. This drew a lot of applause from the crowd.

Voting began at 7 am and will go on till 7 pm. Various precautionary measures have been taken at the polling stations due to the recurrence of the spread of the coronavirus infection.
