SAD: VETERAN MUSIC COMPOSER WHO GAVE AR RAHMAN HIS FIRST MUSICAL BREAK, PASSES AWAY!

In a sad piece of news, veteran musician who was one of the music maestros, M K Arjunan, popularly known as Arjunan Master, passed away at Kochi on Monday. He was 84. During a career spanning almost 50 years in film industry, the master has scored music for more than 500 songs in over 218 Malayalam films.

Veteran music composer MK Arjunan passes away

M K Arjunan, who ventured into movie music through composing songs for theatre, made his debut in 1968 with the movie Karutha Pournami. He is known to have worked with K J Yesudas, A R Rahman and many more.

For the unversed, he was a close friend of AR Rahman’s father, R.K. Shekhar. The Kerala State Award winning composer was also credited with giving AR Rahman his first musical break in 1981 when Rahman stepped into music world as a keyboard player for Shreyas Production’s Malayalam movie - Adima Changala.

Sharing the sad news, Resul Pookutty tweeted, “My heartfelt condolences .... many of your tunes are etched in my memory, your artistry has shaped up many generations of music lovers! Your absence is a vacuum.... RIP.”
