It was only recently that Think Music hosted a function to celebrate the immense success of the album Meesaya Murukku. It was the most streamed Tamil album with 150 million+ streams in 150 days. Now, they have come up with a first of its kind initiative for an Indian music label.

They have launched a 24x7 live YouTube radio channel - you can now listen to your favourite Tamil film songs all day, every day without interruptions. The channel streams non-stop music without ad breaks, playing song after song from the Think Music library.

The channel streams only audio and therefore can be enjoyed without the worry of consuming heavy data. While a 3G connection is preferred, even a 2G Network with 144p resolution streams songs at highest possible audio quality. “The channel is audio only as the purpose of this initiative is to serve as a Tamil radio station for listeners globally,” says Santhosh Kumar, Head of Think Music India.

The team has been testing the beta version the last few weeks with listeners tuning in from all over the world, which gave them the opportunity to fix small glitches that were bound to arise. The channel features live public chats, where listeners can interact with each other while listening to the station and even request for songs. Song request hours will be posted on Think Music India’s social media pages.
This is the first time in India that a music label has launched a live radio station and the team is happy with the response to the beta version and is in the process of developing an app as well. “YouTube currently plays only as long as you’re on it. The minute you move to another site or app, it will stop playing. The app we are developing will allow you to play music from Think Music 24x7 even if you exit YouTube,” adds Santhosh.
