Home > Tamil Movies > Tamil Cinema NewsEarlier today (August 23), we had reported that Actress Kangana Ranaut took to Twitter to confirm the theatrical release of 'Thalaivi', the biopic of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa. The movie, which was earlier delayed multiple times owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, is now all set to release on September 10 (Ganesh Chaturthi).
The 'Queen' actress shared the poster of 'Thalaivi' which features herself and Arvind Swamy in lead roles and wrote: "The story of this iconic personality deserves to be witnessed only on the BIG SCREEN! Pave way, for #Thalaivii as she is all set to make a superstar entry into the world of cinema, yet again, a place where she has always belonged! Thalaivii IN CINEMAS near you on 10th September!"

With theatres in Tamil Nadu all set to reopen today (August 23) and several films lined up to release, Kangana took to her Instagram story to confirm earlier in the day that the movie is heading for a theatrical release and shared tweet by an entertainment news tracker that stated that the movie is heading for a pan-India theatrical release despite being offered record OTT premiere rates.
He also said that after the theatrical release, the Hindi version will hit Netflix and the other versions will be premiered on Amazon Prime Video. However, official information regarding the same is yet to be announced by the makers.
The upcoming biographical film is directed by AL Vijay and stars Arvind Swamy — in the role of former Tamil Nadu CM MG Ramachandran — as well as Madhoo among others. The movie will be released in three languages including Tamil, Hindi and Telugu. Meanwhile, Kangana Ranaut has 'Dhaakad', 'Tejas', 'Tiku weds Sheru' and a few other projects in the pipeline.
