STR had a great 2018, as his film Chekka Chivantha Vaanam with Mani Ratnam was successful both critically and commercially. It had him playing one of the lead roles alongside Aravind Swami, Arun Vijay, Vijay Sethupathi, Jyothika, Aditi Rao Hydari, Aishwarya Rajesh, and Dayana Erappa. The film was produced by Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions.
He was last seen in Sundar C's Vantha Rajavathaan Varuven, that also had Megha Akash, Catherine Tresa, Ramya Krishnan and others in crucial roles. This commercial flick was bankrolled by Lyca Productions.
Following these 2 films, STR had signed a film with Venkat Prabhu, titled Maanadu, which will be a political film. He had travelled all the way to London in order to prepare for the role. Now, the actor has sent a pic of his new look for this film.
