Special screening of Magalir Mattum exclusively for the mothers in Malaysia

Persatuan Thaaimaiyin Ulagam Malaysia had organized a special screening of Jyothika's Magalir Mattum, exclusively for all the mothers, on 17th of September, in association with MSK Film Production and Lotus Five Star. An official statement from the event organizers has come out now.

The statement read, "For the first time in Malaysian history, never before has a whole cinema hall been booked by a group of all Indian females for a show strictly attended by females only. On the 17th of September 2017, 197 women gathered together at PJ State Lotus Cinema to watch Magalir Mattum - a Tamil Language film about female empowerment.

This event was held in collaboration with MSK Film Production Sdn Bhd and Lotus Five Star. This event was initiated by Persatuan Thaaimaiyin Ulagam Malaysia. The goal was to extend its virtual presence (as a Facebook group) into real life. Mothers all over the country were divided statewise and joined this Movie Date in various cinemas. This event is the precursor for future networking. It is also meant to help mothers in different parts of the country to connect with other mothers to create a support network for themselves and encourage them to take time off their responsibilities and enjoy a movie date occasionally.

Challenges for a mother and women differ based on various socioeconomic background, however, the core obstacles remain the same. Mothers are overworked and under appreciated. With this event being a pioneer of many like it, we hope we can improve the quality of life and the mental health of these mothers. After all, a well-rested person is a happy person. This event also helped a few home-based entrepreneurs who are mothers or as we like to call them mompreneurs. This event displayed a magnificent fairy tale candy table which was put together by many of these mompreneurs. This event is only successful because mothers from various walks of life came together as a team for a common goal. PTUM intends to donate its profits to the needy during the upcoming Deepavali celebrations.

Persatuan Thaaimaiyin Ulagam Malaysia (PTUM) started off as A Facebook group called Thaaimaiyin Ulagam. We are now registered as a society and is open to The Malaysian women in the motherhood journey. The society advocates evidence-based practices, and we aim to create awareness on many women and child-related issues. We want to take the opportunity to thank the sponsors for making this event a massive success."
