Seethakaathi Trailer Review

The official trailer of Vijay Sethupathi's Seethakaathi just released. The film is directed by Balaji Tharaneetharan of Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom fame and is produced by Sudhan Sundaram, Umesh G, Jayaram, and Arun Vaidyanathan.

The trailer runs for a little over 3 minutes, which is very rare these days. The detailing and suspense in the trailer are very interesting and it keeps the viewer hooked. Vijay Sethupathi plays Ayya Aadhimoolam, a renowned stage-play artist and film actor.

The trailer teases the audiences with its suspense. The question to be answered is; Why isn't Ayya coming for shooting anymore? We certainly need to watch the movie to find the answer and the solution to the conflict faced by the multi-charactered story.

Vijay Sethupathi looks apt for the role and his makeup and costume has been designed very intricately. His voice modulation to suit the age of his character is impeccable. The trailer has been constructed in such a way that the core conflict of the film has been revealed and that is what intrigues the audience the most. Though the rest of the trailer seems bright and well lit, the shots composed with Ayya in the frame seem very dark and dense. The reason behind this will be clear once we catch the film.

Govind Vasantha struck gold with his music in Vijay Sethupathi's recently released 96. Now, from the pieces in the trailer, we can be assured that his contribution to Seethakaathi will be very crucial. The music in the trailer comprises of quite a few elements like the Flute, the synthetic rhythm and a harmonic chorus that welcomes the suspense.

Director Balaji Tharaneetharan impressed everybody with Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom and now his work in this film seems very convincing. To build a story about artists and bring in the anxiousness within the audience is a good trait and Balaji seems to have done a cogent job of it.

We see director Bharathiraja and Ram making special appearances in the film. They seem to be playing themselves and that is sure to give a different dimension to this film that seems to be about actors.

On the whole, the trailer gives us a hand and pulls us into the world of Seethakaathi. It looks like a must watch for true cinema lovers and another movie to prove versatile acting talent of Vijay Sethupathi.

Seethakaathi releases on December 20th.
