Speaking about voicing concern against this incident, Sanam says, "We have right to vote - similarly we have rights to raise questions against the injustice against us common people. We should not shun away from raising our voice just because the tragedy is not in our home, or locality or area. Citizens have to first ask questions - then only actions will be taken. I made a small effort to help raise awareness against this on my social media. After I shared my complaint details, nearly 35 complaint screenshots were sent to me by my Instagram friends."

When asked about her opinion of police officials in general, Sanam says that the police department is mainly responsible for the public's safety, and 90% of them are truly dutiful. "But this incident in Tuticorin has shamed the entire police force. During this lockdown, we have seen the officials work selflessly without food and water for our safety. We should not forget that. But when some officers misuse their authority and do inhumane acts, we must raise questions. I feel if the judicial system is more strong, such crimes may come down."

Also, Sanam has said that every nature of job has its own kind of stress, and saying that work stress of the officials is the reason for this brutal behavior cannot be accepted. "I cannot generalize - if some theft or murders require a type of enquiry, one cannot question the officer's methods. But for ordinary cases like that of the Sathankulam incident, no justification can be provided for the custody deaths, and no leniency could be shown towards the officials."

"I can't comment on this - I don't know why they are protecting - again and again victims are named - why are the accused being protected? Is suspension the justification for murder? How are the police officials an exception? Is this the normal procedure for a murder charge? Only unofficial enquiry is currently going on."
