Darbar is actor Rajinikanth's next film after Shankar's 2.0 and Karthik Subbaraj's Petta. The film has Nayanthara as the female lead, while Yogi Babu, Jatin Sarna and others play crucial supporting roles. The film is directed by AR Murugadoss, and produced by Lyca Productions.
The first schedule of the film took place at Mumbai this year, with the team going for a break due to the Lok Sabha elections. Now, the latest update is that Rajinikanth is travelling to Mumbai to start shooting for the second schedule of the film.
The film has music by Anirudh Ravichander, while Santosh Sivan will be cranking the camera for a Rajini film for the first time after Mani Ratnam's Thalapathi. National Award-winning editor Sreekar Prasad will be handling the cuts.
Rajini will also be donning the cop uniform for the first time after 25+ years, and was last seen in a police role in Pandiyan (1992). Darbar will be releasing for Pongal 2020, marking Rajini's second consecutive Pongal release after Petta this year.
