Raees Trailer review

The trailer of Hindi film Raees is out. The film stars Shah Rukh Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Mahira Khan and it is said to be inspired by the life of a Gujarati criminal, Abdul Latif. It is set in Gujarat from the 1980s.

The trailer gives us an obvious glimpse of the storyline, which appears to be a fierce, action-filled battle between a don and an ACP (Nawazuddin Siddique). It starts off with Shah Rukh’s intense bass voice over explaining his mother’s words about business. The intensity of the trailer picks up as they introduce Nawazuddin Siddiqui as ACP Ghulam Patel trying to bash up Raees’s business. The very well cut trailer exposes Shah Rukh’s mass appeal and brings back, ‘Don’ SRK with his style and gracefulness simply merging with the vigor of the character. The heroine is introduced with SRK’s attraction towards her adding to the romance content for the film. The trailer mostly consists of SRK’s voice over talking high of business and the way to deal with it. Maybe it is a strategically thought out move, but they have avoided showing a lot of Nawazuddin Siddiqui.

Short cuts of action, romance, a masala-filled item song featuring Sunny Leone and a vehement battle between the police officer and the don filled with high-intensity dialogues in a very stylish 70s elegance is what the trailer offers. The background music composed by Ram Sampath is a subtle mix of a restrained tune and a vigorous tone.

The trailer concludes with SRK saying ‘’Mein aa raha hun’’ (I’m coming). A package that could offer a lot for the fans of Shah Rukh Khan. The film is slated to release on 25th January 2017.
