Director K. Balachander, a legendary director of Tamil film industry has a special fan base for his natural and fantastic films. Before his demise on 24th December 2014, he was last seen in Kamal's Uthama Villain in a pivotal role. Balachander holds the pride of launching two of the biggest stars of Kollywood, Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan and Superstar Rajinikanth. The respect our industry has on him is immeasurable.

Pushpa Kandaswamy shares about Balachander and Vijays Thirumalai

Balanchander was born on July 9th and as a special tribute, his daughter Pushpa Kandaswamy had a interaction with Behindwoods where she shared about the legendary director, her father and also about Thalapathy Vijay's 'Thirumalai' which was produced by Kavithalayaa Productions.

During the interactions she said that in their production, they wanted to do a film with growing young talents like Vikram and Vijay, "We approached Vijay and he suggested that Ramana has a story about a mechanic, so we contacted Ramana and he explained the story for 2 hours to us. The film was set in Pudhupettai locality and the sets of the film were very real and impressive." Said Pushpa.

"We did not care about the cost during that time and supported whatever the film required. Vijay was very dedicated to his character and very punctual. It was a major turning-point for Vijay.  He was a romantic hero till then. This film started his action film career." she added. She also said that the director took the film exactly as per the script he narrated and that she is very happy to have produced that film.
