Petta Marana Mass single track Review

Petta is actor Rajinikanth's upcoming film that has Simran, Trisha, Vijay Sethupathi, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Bobby Simha playing important roles. Directed by Karthik Subbaraj, Petta is produced by Kalanithi Maran under the banner Sun Pictures. The technical crew consists of Anirudh as the music director and Thirunavukarasu as the cinematographer.

The first single from the album, titled Marana Mass released today. Here is our review of it:

SP Balasubramaniyam, who had been singing the Introduction song for Rajinikanth for more than 2 decades till K.S. Ravikumar's Lingaa, is now back to croon his voice for Superstar. Also giving him company is the youthful and energetic Anirudh Ravichander who happens to be the Music Director of the film.

Whenever a Rajini movie song is released, our minds automatically starts imagining how will this fit the Superstar image of Rajinikanth. We can safely say, Anirudh has delivered a brilliant Kuththu song. One exceptional feature about the song is that Anirudh has not overused the amazing resource called SPB. The man hasn't lost the magic in his voice, and it brings back memories of a lot of Rajini films.

One can already visualize the Rajini of the past setting the screens on fire, with his trademark walk and stylish moves. Lyricist Vivek proves his mettle in writing Thala Local lyrics once again. Most of the song is filled with Thaarai Thappattai beats, but the Pettai Motion Poster music kicks in somewhere near the middle of the song, which is refreshing.

The pattern of the song suggests that a group of students give the cue for Rajini using words like "Geththa nadandhu varan, Gate'a ellam kadandhu varaan!... Sleeve'ah surutti varaan, Collar'ah dhan peratti varan etc.,"

Overall, this has everything that a Rajini fan wants. The bar has been set high by Anirudh. This track is one of those, where the title of the song is a commentary on the song itself. This song is indeed Marana Mass.
