Director P Vasu, known for his work as a director in Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, and Malayalam films is one of the most highly acknowledged and reputed directors in South Indian Cinema. In a career spanning over three decades, Vasu has directed more than 50 films collaborating with major stars from the industry. A storyteller who ruled the early 90's with his sentimental tearjerkers, has not only made significant contributions towards cinema but has also been a mentor for many leading actors today.
Recognising his work in cinema and heavy contribution to social service, Universal Tamil University has honored him with a doctorate. University chancellor Dr. Pandaraja granted him the doctorate and the event took place in Kodaikanal on July 6th, 2018. Filmmaker P. Bharathiraja received this award last year and following that director Vasu received it this year.
When we got in touch with the director to hear a few words on this, he said
"I am extremely happy and honoured. Being the second person from the industry to receive this award was definitely a proud moment for me"
