In a special interview to Behindwoods, director Kasthoori Raja looks back at his three decade-old journey in cinema and his children Dhanush and Selvaraghavan, who are thriving in present Tamil cinema.

Kasthoori Raja on Dhanush and Selvaraghavan

The director said that while Selvaraghavan's entry in cinema was a planned move, Dhanush's foray was accidental "Thulluvadho Ilamai (Dhanush's debut) was supposed to be shot in a holiday period with teenagers. I was in a pressure to start the film and I couldn't find a suitable 'boy' for a role."

The situation ultimately led to the casting of Dhanush, his then teenage son in the film "Once, instead of dropping him at school, I took him to the sets of my film. He was crying a lot, saying that I was destroying his life'. He was trembling while shooting for a scene."

Kasthoori Raja revealed that Dhanush didn't show interest in cinema for his first six films "After that, the holidays and his studies were over and then came financial troubles. These issues made him more rigorous and even now, he says that I ruined his life."
