One of the breakout hits of 2018, the Sriram Raghavan-helmed Andhadhun, was hailed by critics and audiences for its racy screenplay and breathtaking performances. The film had recently won the prestigious National Film Awards in the categories of best adapted screenplay and acting (male) respectively.

The film was touted to be remade in other languages and there were numerous media reports regarding who will be reprising the male protagonist. Now, its confirmed that actor, director and producer Thiagarajan had bought the remake rights of the film. The film's male protagonist will be portrayed by actor Prashanth and the team is yet to finalize the director and rest of the cast and crew for this remake.

Incidentally, the duo had also made Johnny, a film that is based upon the 2007 noir-thriller Johnny Gaddar, which was also written and directed by Sriram Raghavan. The remake was helmed by Vetriselven and was released in 2018.

Inspired by a French short film L'Accordeur, Andhadhun revolves around a visually impaired pianist who gets entangled in a crime of passion involving a yesteryear actor and his wife. The film was co-written by Sriram Raghavan along with Sriram Raghavan along with Arijit Biswas, Pooja Ladha Surti, Yogesh Chandekar and Hemanth Rao. The film was jointly produced by Viacom 18 Motion Pictures in association with Matchbox Pictures.
