However, reports are doing rounds that the Madras High Court has stayed the production of the Hindi remake. Accordingly, Guneet Monga approached the Madras High Court against Suriya over the remaking rights of the film, including in Hindi. She alleged that the Tamil film was to be remade in Hindi by her and Suriya together. Instead, Suriya entered into a deal with Abundantia Entertainment without the consent of Guneet.

Now, when Behindwoods got in touch with 2D Entertainment’s co-producer Rajsekar Pandian have opened up about this issue. According to the official statement, “The claims being made by Guneet Monga’s Sikhya Entertainment with regard to the Hindi rights of the film are untrue and incorrect.”

Dismissing the claims made by Sikhya Entertainment in an arbitration case filed by them before the Hon’ble High Court of Madras, Rajsekar said that the facilitation fee as agreed have been paid in full by 2D entertainment to Sikhya Entertainment with regard to their facilitation work for the acquisition of the film's rights from Captain Gopinath.

"We have paid Sikhya Entertainment a huge sum of 3 crores for facilitating the acquisition of the rights of the book ‘Simply Fly’, apart from the actual rights money and Sikhya’s expenses that we separately paid. Therefore, there is no iota of truth in their claims made in the case filed against 2D," Rajsekar said.

"They have filed a baseless case to unnecessarily cause delay and unlawfully enrich themselves. We have all the necessary records to show that we are in the right and we will defend this legally," he added.
