Thalaimuraigal, Thanga Meengal and Vallinam bag National Awards

The  61^st Annual National Awards were announced today and Tamil cinema has bagged 5 awards (and a special mention), of which the films of late Balu Mahendra and his disciple Ram have bagged four. Here’s the list-
 

Nargis Dutt Award For Best Feature Film On National Integration - Thalaimuraigal

Best Child Artist - Sadhana (Thanga Meengal)

Best Tamil Film - Thanga Meengal

Best Lyrics - Na. Muthukumar For Ananda Yaazhai (Thanga Meengal)

Best Editing -  V.J. Sabu Joseph for Vallinam

Honourable Mention - Madonne M Ashwin’s Dharmam  
 

Ship of Theseus bagged the Best Feature Film Award. Raj Kumar and Suraj Venjaramoodu won the Best Actors award for Shahid (Hindi) and Perariyathavar (Malayalam) respectively and Geetanjali Thapa won the Best Actress award for Liar’s Dice (Hindi).
