''I am happy that I am finally not lean anymore,'' Dhanush

Jul 07, 2014
‘I am happy that I am finally not lean anymore,’ said Dhanush with a pinch of mischief in his tone. ‘After Anirudh has stepped into films, people have realized that there are people even skinnier than me. I am no longer considered as thin.’

The hall erupted with laughter and so did Amala Paul, Vivek, Samuthirakani, Saranya Ponvannan, Director Velraj, Anirudh, Surabhi, Escape Artists Madhan and newcomers Amitash and Rishi, the others who were on the dais.

Yes, team VIP was present at the Taj Coromandel Hotel, Nungambakkam today (7th July, 2014), promoting Dhanush’s 25th film, Velaiyilla Pattathari.

‘I have been in the industry for 14 years now. It is very difficult for talents to hold on for so long these days. I am happy that I have sustained and I am right here with my 25th film.’ Dhanush said beaming with pride.

Director Velraj, on the other hand, was extremely happy to have got the opportunity to direct ‘D - 25’, as the world calls it. ‘The reason why VIP is Dhanush’s 25th film is simply because of the story. The title clearly narrates the story.  I am sure the movie will do well.’  A happy Velraj said.

The movie has Saranya Ponvannan and Samuthirakani playing Dhanush’s parents in the movie.

‘Samuthirakani calls me ‘Anni’ in the sets and Dhanush gets really angry when he does so.’ Saranya playfully said.  ‘He was scared that we would lose focus on being husband and wife in the movie. But even then we rocked. Didn’t we Dhanush?’ She quipped for which she got a huge positive nod from the national award winning actor.

Surabhi who has an extended cameo in the film mentioned that it was every girl’s dream to do at least a small role in a Dhanush film and she was happy that she got the offer.

The beautiful actress was dressed in a short formal one piece that apparently confused actor Vivek when he saw her first.

‘I initially thought she was a hotel staff, who forgot to wear her pant,’ he teased. After having pulled Surabhi’s legs, he decided that it was Amala Paul’s turn now. He started off with an apology for not being able to attend her wedding. ‘I even can’t say that I will surely come next time,’ he kidded.

‘I initially rejected Dhanush’s offer in the movie. However, Dhanush told me that he will make someone else act in my place, prove that the character was worth doing and then come back to me for my next film. That kept ringing in my mind as I went home. I then called and accepted to do the role.’ He added.

Well, there is news...  Anirudh has finished the background scoring for the movie. ‘The movie has come out very well.’ He said.

Dhanush also stated that director Selvaraghavan, his elder brother, watched the film and liked it too, especially Samuthirakani’s role.

Velaiyilla Pattathari, directed by Velraj is good to go and will hit the theaters soon. Do stick around for updates on the film.
