Rs 41000 for the Osthe delay

Nov 08, 2013
The Tamilnadu Theater Owners' Association has been imposed a fine of Rs. 41000 by the Competition Commission of India (CCI) for allegedly indulging themselves in unfair trade practices. The association was reportedly fined following a complaint registered by Reliance Big Entertainment for having delayed the release of the Simbu starrer Osthe.

The satellite rights for the movie had been acquired by a popular television channel whose production company was alleged to have been owing some balance money to the theater owners, pushing the theater owners association to hold the movie from release until the dues were paid.

The CCI have fined the Theater Owners Association under section 27 of the competition act, 2001 that says that such anti-competitive acts and conduct need to be penalized.
