Coincidence it might be, but in the past few years Vijay has never released a movie on an ordinary day other than festivals. Even a cursory look at his movie release patterns suggests that all his movies are released invariably on a festival day. It could be a case of mere coincidences and that there is absolutely nothing more than meets the eye, but you know, we could not help noticing. So we fired up a list!

Kaavalan - Kaavalan might as well have been the beginner of the trend. The romance drama, released in 2011 for Pongal overturned Vijay's fortunes and brought him back to spotlight.

Velayudham - Then came Velayudham, released for Diwali 2011, battling it out with Suriya's 7aum Arivu. It made all the correct noises it should, customary to Vijay’s movies of the yore.

Nanban - The much anticipated remake of 3 Idiots released for the 2012 Pongal and brought home laurels for Vijay after having been declared as one of the initial hits of the year.

Thuppakki - Come Diwali 2012, Vijay is gearing up to fire his guns with the Murugadoss directed Thuppakki. For Vijay and Murugadoss, it's the first movie together and while Vijay is expected to repeat the Nanban success, Murugadoss, however is aiming to fare better than all his previous films this time.
