A handful of star weddings which shone bright with celeb presence had been keeping everyone on toes this year. While a couple of south Indian stars have solemnized their wedding, there are some more to follow suit.

It started with the marriage of Riteish Deshmukh-Genelia D'souza. Genelia made her foray into films after becoming popular as a model. This chirpy and bubbly girl went on to do several films in the south and some of her hits include Santhosh Subramaniam and Velayudham. Riteish and Genelia met during their debut film Tujhe Meri Kasam in 2003.  Since then rumours about their romance were doing the rounds. Finally the romance that was kept under wraps ended in a fairytale wedding in February 2012. After a lavish Maharashtrian wedding, Riteish and Genelia walked down the aisle at St Ann's Church in Bandra, a western Mumbai suburb, on the morning of February 4. The wedding was really fat, as it saw mehendi celebration, sangeet ceremony, wedding and the reception. The crème de la crème of Bollywood made it a point to attend it, courtesy the groom’s status as the son of politician Vilasarao Deshmukh. It is interesting to note that the film in which both of them featured, Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya’s release coincided with their wedding.

The sexy south Indian actress Reema Sen got married to her boy friend, a Delhi-based hotelier, Shiv Karan Singh with much fanfare. The mehendi, sangeet and wedding ceremony took place at a farmhouse near Vasant Kunj, New Delhi. She tied the knot on March 11 and the wedding was attended by a host of celebs from the tinsel town which included Shriya Saran, Sonia Agarwal, Sandali Sinha, Kiran Salaskar and Lissy Priyadarshan. Reema debuted in Tamil with Minnale and her role in the Selvaraghavan directed Aayirathil Oruvan brought the best in her as an actress.

The latest marriage sensation of the south is of Sneha and Prasanna. Sneha was paired with Prasanna as couple in the film Achchamundu Achchamundu and since then, numerous rumours were floating around about their affair. Though they kept on denying it, towards the end of 2011, Prasanna announced that he is going to marry Sneha and they have been seeing each other for quite some time. Their wedding became the talk of the town as the couple sold the telecast rights of their wedding for a fancy prize to a famous television channel. The wedding had a sangeet function, engagement ceremony, reception and wedding in two styles (Brahmin and Naidu traditions) as both of them belong to two different communities. The couple got married on May 11. There was also a reception thrown in exclusively for the celebrities.

Actress Udayathara made her debut in Tamil with Thee Nagar. She also did films like Kannum Kannum, Malayan and Vilai. She married Jubin Joseph, a Dubai based pilot on May 16.

The next wedding on the cards are of  Ram Charan Teja, son of actor-politician Chiranjeevi, with Upasana Kamineni, the granddaughter of C Pratap Reddy of Apollo Hospitals. The couple’s engagement itself has garnered enough eye balls as Upasana announced that Ram Charan himself had designed the engagement ring. Now, with the official wedding date announced as June 14th, the expectation is sky high as two powerful families will be joining through the wedding. Also it is heard that the wedding will be attended by Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi and the Bachchans will also be there to bless the couple. Going by the grandeur of the engagement, it seems this will be a marriage which will be talked about for quite some time.

Though there is no official communication on the dates, rumours are rife that some more celeb weddings are on the anvil.

We hear that Luck By Chance star Isha Shervani will marry fast bowler Zaheer Khan soon. Also it is speculated that the wedding of John Abraham and his investment banker girlfriend Priya Runchal will take place soon. People are also eagerly waiting to see the weddings of couples like Kareena Kapoor with Saif Ali Khan, Rani Mukherjee with Aditya Chopra and Vidya Balan with Siddharth Roy Kapoor.

Let the year 2012 shine brighter with the bling of star marriages.
