Tere mere Phere is the story of Pooja (Sasha Goradia) and Rahul (Jagrat Desai), a couple that can’t stand each other. Their fights are so incredibly bad that their flight from Manali to Shimla gets redirected back to its starting point. Wanting to get out of Manali and not finding any other way, they hire a car. Enter Vinay Pathak, a localite who is in a hurry to get to Himachal to stop his lover (Riya Sen) from getting married to some other guy. At gun point, he forces Pooja and Rahul to let him ride along with them to Shimla. Thrown together, the couple shares their story of perfect love and a perfect marriage that is now on the rocks because of a case of ‘familiarity breeds contempt’. Hearing the story, Vinay is now unsure of his reasons to marry Riya. What if their love too flies out of the window?

If you get through the film this far, you will not care about what happens in the end. Director Deepa Sahi’s Tere Mere Phere is an extremely childish film. It forces one to wonder how anybody can produce such a movie.

The acting has drawbacks beyond belief. Vinay Pathak is, after a lot of thought, ok. He loses focus after a point. Riya Sen tries to be cute and is successful only to an extent. The rest of the cast is outright bad.

For a film that claims to be of the comedy genre, there is no humour in this drama. In fact, only the bold can get through the entire film.  The dialogues and direction drag and bore to the point that you want the couple to stay apart. Further, the hundred odd slow motion shots make you wonder whether it is just you that is missing all those points.

There is nothing worth mentioning about the music. The background music sounds ancient and does not blend with the story and settings.

Set in Himachal, the scenes look good. But unfortunately, the couple occupies most of the screen blocking the only good thing in the film.

Two weeks in a row, good actors have made bad choices, landing themselves in films that can only ruin their reputation

Overall, you wouldn’t be missing much even if you did not watch this on TV.

Verdict: Don’t bother
