Pizza (not to be confused with the 2005 American dark comedy movie of the same name) is a romantic thriller - a genre that is almost never explored that well in Tamil cinema. Directed by Karthik Subburaj, Pizza the story is, quite obviously, about a pizza delivery boy and how he gets entangled in mysterious circumstances in one of his pizza delivery expeditions.

The movie has Vijay Sethupathi in the lead. Vijay's earlier movie in the lead was the national award winner Thenmerku Paruvakaatru. Remya Nambeesan, the Malayalam star who made her Tamil debut in Raman Thediya Seethai and had appeared in a couple of movies, will be seen as the female lead in the movie. Remya turned to glamorous roles and gave rise to the trend of stars appearing in item numbers in Malayalam movies recently.

Pizza is produced by CV Kumar, whose Attakathi became a sleeper hit. Incidentally, Pizza's music is also scored by Attakathi's composer Santhosh Narayanan. The album has about eight songs, one of which is performed by Gaana Bala who sang the hit Aadi Pona Aavani song in Attakathi.

Pizza might not be able to stand up to the other biggies on theaters now but if it ends up being a surprise, chances are that its fortunes could turn around.
