Aayiram Muthangaludan Then Mozhi stars debut actors Venkatesh and Akshara and is directed by debut director Shanmugharaj. The movie is set in the backdrop of a village and a vigorous rehearsal-cum-training camp for the entire cast was held in Tiruvannamalai for about a year before the shoots began.

Earlier, distribution rights were bought by Michael Rayappan, and the television rights were later scooped up by Sun Pictures. As with other new releases these days, Aayiram Muthangaludan Then Mozhi is also said to be inspired by real life incidents.
