When Venkat Prabhu was asked if he has plans to take his blockbuster 2011 movie Mankatha to Bollywood as well, he had something exciting to share. This happened during a recent episode of the game show that he hosts for a private channel. This is what Venkat had to say
"Some Bollywood representatives have expressed an interest in doing the Hindi version of Mankatha and I suggested to them if Ajith can play the role enacted by Arjun in the Tamil original. They were also excited by this prospect but nothing is certain as of now. It just remains a part of my wishlist as of now"
If Venkat's plans bear fruition, fans will be able to see Ajith filling Arjun’s shoes in the Hindi version and it would also be a unique distinction for Ajith as he would get to play two different roles in the two versions of the movie like how Vikram did in the Tamil and Hindi versions of Mani Ratnam’s Raavanan / Raavan.
But when we contacted sources close to Ajith, they denied any such development regarding the Hindi remake of Mankatha.
