The producers of 3, RK Productions Private Ltd. petitioned the Madras High Court asking for a ban on 3 content from being aired by telecommunication services, internet content providers, and cable TV service providers. The court has approved the ban and has also restricted the telecast of material from the movie on TV, DVDs, internet, and other multimedia services.
The injunction approved by the court has been published in Tamil and English newspapers to serve as notice to serve as noticed to all concerned parties. The move was made to quell all attempts at piracy and unlawful distribution of content from the movie which has Dhanush and Shruti in the lead.
