Vaalu director Vijay Chander, during a chitchat opened up a bit about his hero STR. About why STR took up this project Vijay said, “When we tell somebody that there is a look alike roaming in the city just like him, won’t he be eager to meet him immediately. That was the same case with Simbu. When I narrated him the story, he felt that the protagonist in the story was just like him.”

When asked the director, if the film will really hit the screens for  Diwali, considering that Simbu is already having Podaa Podi and Vettai Mannan in his kitty, the director clarified, “It is Simbu who wants this film to hit the screens for Diwali, more than I do.”
