Vijay has said that director Siddique wanted to make Kaavalan even prior to its Malayalam version but the project did not take off due to want of his dates. Eventually Siddique decided to complete the Malayalam version, which is the mega hit Bodyguard.

According to Vijay, Kaavalan was to have commenced even before Vettaikaran but he could not proceed with the project as he had a line-up of films like Kuruvi, Villu, Vettaikaran and Sura.

Kaavalan, it may be mentioned here, is receiving positive reviews and Vijay’s fans seem to be enjoying his glorious status.
