Six legendary heroines of Indian cinema – Savithri, Meena Kumari, Nutan, Devika Rani, Leela Naidu and Kanan Devi – were recognized by the Indian Postal Department by releasing a stamp in their honor on February 13th, 2011 at Hotel Imperial in New Delhi.

Noted actress Vyjayanthimala Bali, Gurudas Kamat and Radhika Doraisamy were on dais while the stamps were released. Vijayasamundeeswari, daughter of late Savithri was present along with her entire family including her husband, sons and grandson to receive the honor on behalf of her mother.  

It may be mentioned here that the postal department had earlier issued a stamp in honor of Nargis and Madhubala.
