The audio launch of Narthaki took place in Chennai recently. Two songs from the film were screened during this audio launch and one of them Poovin Vasam Poovil Illai was simply amazing.
Speaking at this function, the film’s director Vijaya Padma said that all songs in Narthaki were written within 30 minutes each. She explained that soon after a song was filmed in Gingee, the team would travel back to Chennai and in the intervening time music director GV Prakash Kumar and lyricist Na Muthu Kumar will have another song ready. She added that re-recording and music in Narthaki will be the talk-of-the-town.
Vijaya Padma said that when she narrated the story to producer Punnagai Poo Geetha, she immediately agreed to finance the project because the subject is off-beat.
Kalki, a transgender who plays the lead role in this film said that Narthaki has 25 transgenders in various roles out of which eight of them have significant roles. Adding further, Kalki said that this film has improved the financial status of these transgenders who were otherwise finding it difficult to run their lives with the meager income. Kalki also predicted the Narthaki will be a milestone in world cinema.
Thamizhachi Thangapandian said that Punnagai Poo Geetha and Vijaya Padma are courageous to deal with such a subject. MB Nirmal, NA Muthu Kumar and Jaguar Thangam graced the occasion.
