The shooting of the Malayalam film Bus Number 66 Madurai was stalled in Nellai area by people protesting against the filming of a Malayalam film in Tamil Nadu. The protestors supporting the Mullai Periyar issue stated that until the problems are solved, Malayalam films should not be shot in Tamil Nadu.

This sudden outburst from the locals forced the team to cut short their shooting and leave the spot. Bus Number 66 Madurai’s lead pair Pasupathy and Padma Priya left for Kerala immediately after the protests along with the rest of the crew.
