Honour killing in Karachi: Teenage couple tied to cot, electrocuted to death

In a horrific honour killing case in Karachi of Pakistan, a teenage couple was electrocuted to death by family members on the orders of an influential tribal council. The Pashtun council of elders, or jirga, said the couple, who tried to elope, brought dishonour on the community, police reportedly said. A police officer reportedly said the teenagers, a 15-year-old girl and a 17-year-old boy, were tied to a charpai (rope bed) and given electric shocks. Police reportedly arrested the two fathers and two uncles and are on the hunt for some 30 members of the jirga.
