UP govt to use NSA against cow smugglers

Uttar Pradesh police DGP Sulkhan Singh had reportedly announced that the state would invoke the National Security Act (NSA) against any individual or group accused of killing or transporting cattle for slaughter. The NSA Act allows police to detain the suspects for three months. However, this is only possible with an order signed by a district magistrate. Until now, the police have been using the Gangster Act against cattle smugglers.
