Three weeks after the Chennai Silks fire accident, the state housing and urban development department has reportedly notified new rules to the authorities to regularise unauthorised structures across the state. Titled, `Tamil Nadu Assessment and Collection of Amount for Exemption of Buildings Rules, 2017' allows the authorities to fine the lawbreakers up to three times of the existing guideline value. Interestingly, the government has given an opportunity to those, whose applications were rejected in the past, to apply under the new regularisation scheme.
