Three manual scavengers died of asphyxiation on Monday in Tamil Nadu’s Cuddalore district. They were reportedly cleaning a blockage in the underground sewage tank. The deceased were identified as Velu, Murugan and Jayakumar. The workers were appointed by the Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board.  The families of the deceased have demanded Rs 30 lakh as compensation.
