Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Sunday reportedly said hotel rooms costing between ₹2,500 to ₹7,500 per night will be taxed at 18% while those above ₹7,500 will attract levy of 28% under GST. GST on restaurants in these hotels will be at par with other air-conditioned restaurants, that is 18%, he added. The countrywide GST rollout is scheduled for July 1.
