Sivakasi fireworks ban modified: SC

The Supreme Court in November 2016 made a complete ban of fireworks after the pollution caused by crackers during Diwali. Reportedly on Tuesday Supreme Court changed the rule a bit as to sell only limited fireworks with a proper license in the country. The Supreme Court stated that the complete ban on fireworks would be an extreme step as livelihoods depend on that particular industry. According to media reports, it is a great relief for Sivakasi fireworks makers as 82 industries, and over 5 lakh employees were in dire straits.
