Rights activist Irom Sharmila on Thursday married her British partner Desmond Coutinho in Kodaikanal. Family members of the couple were not present at the registrar’s office. However, Sharmila, 45, was accompanied by documentary film maker and CPI-ML activist Divya Bharathi along with some other friends. She decided to quit politics and marry Coutinho, an NRI with roots in Goa, when she lost the assembly elections in Manipur.
