A 72-year-old woman in Madurai on Saturday was robbed by two men who dressed up as cops. The woman was wearing gold jewelry worth Rs. 1.60 lakhs. Reportedly the men introduced themselves as police and told her that it was unsafe to wear gold jewelry in the streets. According to media reports, when the woman removed her jewelry, the men put it in a paper and asked her to keep it inside her bag. The woman came to know that she was tricked only after she reached her house. A complaint has been lodged at police station.
