Few theatres in Chennai including PVR and Inox will remain shut on Tuesday for protesting against the tax imposed on Tamil and other regional films. Reportedly, the Chief Financial Officer said that the other state producers and movie makers questioned him that why there was double taxation in Tamil Nadu alone. According to media reports, the Greater Chennai Corporation levied an entertainment tax on all Tamil movies at the rate of 10% and 7%. Other language movies will have to pay 20% tax.
