Parents and social activists have reportedly alleged that most private schools in Tirunelveli district charged exorbitant fees without adhering to the fee structure fixed by the government. The officials of Education Department were in league with the school managements, they reportedly alleged. Private schools charge ten times the amount set by the government in different forms without issuing bills, a social activist from Tirunelveli reportedly said.
