More than 1000 theatres across Tamil Nadu will remain shut on Monday to protest against the state’s imposition of 30% entertainment tax in addition to the 28% Goods and Services Tax. Tamil Nadu Theater Owners Federation president Abirami Ramanathan on Sunday announced that cinema hall owners across Tamil Nadu would proceed with the shutdown even though 10 Tamil films released in the past two weeks.
