India defeated Sri Lanka by 9 wickets to take a 1-0 lead in the five-match ODI series at Dambulla on Sunday. Earlier, Sri Lanka were bundled out for 216 as Axar Patel picked 3 wickets. India chased the total by the 30th over with the help of Shikhar Dhawan, who scored his fastest ODI hundred in 71 balls. Captain Virat Kohli scored his 44th ODI fifty during the chase as well.
