According to a report by the Verge, photo-sharing app Snapchat has procured a $7.7 million patent for the Geofilter feature from Mobli, a rival of Facebook-owned app Instagram. This is believed to be the highest amount paid for a patent from the Israeli tech industry. Further, reports suggested that social media platform Facebook was also interested in purchasing the same patent, but Snapchat sealed the deal to protect itself from lawsuits.
