Pregnant women and lactating mothers in India are reportedly set to receive Rs 6,000 for their first borns after the cabinet gave its nod to the maternity benefit programme on Wednesday. According to reports, the pregnancy aid is offered by the Centre for the improvement of health and nutrition status of the women and the payment will be made in instalments through Direct Benefit Transfer.
