The Tamil Nadu government on Friday informed the Supreme Court that not a single farmer in the state had committed suicide. This comes after the Apex Court on April 13, issued a notice to the Edappadi Palaniswami-led government to report in two weeks’ time on the steps taken by them to address the farmer suicide issue. However, the National Crime Records Bureau states that a total of 606 farmers and agricultural labourers in Tamil Nadu had committed suicide in 2015.
